neZEH @ Energy in Buildings 2014 International Conference Athens, Greece November 4th 2014

neZEH was present at the Energy in Buildings 2014 International Conference, held by the ASHRAE Hellenic Chapter on in Athens, Greece, gathering great interest.  Dr Theocharis Tsoutsos, Head of the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems Lab of the Technical University of Crete, presented the neZEH methodology to the participants of the conference, which included professionals of all disciplines associated with the built environment including engineers, architects, professors, researchers, building owners, property managers and investors.  A paper called “Nearly Zero Energy Hotels - from European policy to real life examples: the neZEH pilot hotels” has been published in the Conference proceedings.

Dr Theocharis Tsoutsos, Associate Professor of the Technical University of Crete, focused on the neZEH approach for developing the pilot projects, highlighting the benchmarking methodology developed by the consortium and the process followed which includes energy audits and feasibility studies. He also presented the lessons learnt and key findings from analysing existing lighthouse examples, with regard to energy figures, energy efficiency and renewable energy systems used and benefits gained, while he informed about tools for hoteliers that are being developed within the frame of the project.
